Duke Energy Corporation Hosts Rally for Relief

Cary, NC – On Wednesday, October 16, the Duke Energy Corporation (DEC) hosted a "Rally for Relief" event at the Raleigh Convention Center to support communities in Western North Carolina.

Over 200 Duke Energy employees and several employees from WRAL and Wegmans Food Markets participated in assembling critical supplies, including:

  • 6 pallets of assorted canned goods
  • 20 pallets of bottled water
  • 56,700 diapers, provided by the Diaper Bank of North America
  • 75 feminine hygiene kits from The No Woman, No Girl Initiative
  • 1,000 emergency kits in partnership with the American Red Cross

United Way of the Greater Triangle (UWGT) collaborated with Duke Energy to organize the event, while Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and MANNA FoodBank Asheville, NC are overseeing the logistics of transporting these essential items to residents in Western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene.

During the event, several nonprofit partners delivered remarks, including Brittany Pruitt Fletcher, President and CEO of United Way of North Carolina (UWNC), as volunteers packed supplies for those in need.
