Cary, NC -- United Way of North Carolina (UWNC) has adopted the new Global Brand Refresh, a new branding effort led by United Way Worldwide (UWW), which began on October 23, 2024. Since March 2024, Sara Carlson, Mission Advancement Specialist, has been enrolled in the Early Adopter Program, a set of trainings and preparations held biweekly to
UWW Chief Marketing Officer Omoiye Kinney explains that “Our new brand strategy seeks to clarify what we do, how we work, and why we’ve so long been a partner of choice – so we can continue to mobilize our unrivaled network of volunteers and employers to action.”
With a new look and feel, UWNC invites all people to take action and make a bigger impact, together. “United is the Way™” is serving not only as our new tagline, but as an inspiring reminder that in uniting our communities, we become stronger, resilient, and empowered to overcome the challenges we face in our communities, including the most recent disaster of Hurricane Helene and its devastating effects in Western North Carolina, Nash County, Sampson County, and parts of the coast.
From bolstering local resilience to addressing immediate needs, UWNC and North Carolina's 47 local United Ways have been mobilizing resources and volunteers to help North Carolinians recover and rebuild. The tireless work has consisted of, but is not limited to, working with community partners to arrange emergency shelter, food, and medical assistance and ensuring financial support reaches the most vulnerable. These coordinated efforts are creating opportunities for those in crisis and helping the affected communities regain their stability after the storm, ensuring long-term recovery and resilience.
NC 211 has also played a valuable part in the efforts, operating as the non-emergency phone number to dial for questions and resource requests relating to Hurricane Helene. Operating 24/7/365 in multiple languages, North Carolinians can have confidential conversations with dedicated Community Resource Specialists who can find information regarding social service resources in the caller's location. Answering over 30,000 calls within three weeks for Hurricane Helene-related inquiries, NC 211 has proven to be the reliable phone number to call for information referral and assistance.
NC 211 is made possible by the support of United Way of North Carolina and the Local United Ways. To reflect this important aspect, the logo has been updated for the brand refresh:
The new branding will slowly develop, with a deadline for UWNC to fully switch over by January 2026. Social media and external communications being updated first. Our UWNC and NC 211 websites will be revamped early in the new year.
